Sara D. Roosevelt Marketplace - FA 23

The assignment was to design a public marketplace to replace the end of the Sara D. Roosevelt Park that borders Houston Street. Since our project would result in replacing the original trees, our project includes a roof garden facing Houston Street. The garden is split into repetitive alternating sloping modules. Repetition was another main design choice with the shape and materials of main classroom and public event spaces as well as with the roof. We also wanted to focus on sustainable design so we implemented solar panels and a water collection system on the roofs and garden that can be reused or returned to the city.
